Egyptian Birth Sign Pendants
Egyptian Birth Sign Pendants - recently discovered artifacts show the Ancient Egyptians developed their own system of astrological prediction over 4000 years ago. The 12 Egyptian Birth Signs are based on different gods and being born within a particular sign influences a person's character. Studying, viewing, and wearing the birth sign induces stronger connections with the meaning behind it.

Little is known about Egyptian astrology except for one surviving design discovered on the ceiling of the Temple of Hathor at Dendera in central Egypt (see above).

Known as the Zodiac of Dendera, it gives a brief glimpse into aspects of Nile Valley astronomy, astrology, agriculture and calendar making. The inner circle of figures, which move counter clockwise like the stars, shows the astrological signs of the zodiac circling around the North Pole, which is symbolized by the deity Anpu. The outer circle of figures represents the 36 decans (ten-day weeks) of the Egyptian year. Thus one had a circle (36 x 10 = 360 degrees). The twelve figures outside the circle represent the 12 months of the year and their arms, the 24 hours of the day.

It was in this manner that the 12 signs of the Egyptian zodiac, which regulated agriculture, were created. Each sign governed three decans and was called one of 'the watchers of the hours.' The word 'hour' derives from the god Horus, thus the signs of the Egyptian zodiac were also 'the watchers of Horus' - and hence the origin of the word 'Horoscope'.

Each of the following Egyptian birth signs illustrates the astrological importance based on one's birth date. Traditionally, to generate a deep connection with a particular Egyptian god, wear their Egyptian birth sign near your heart in the form of these Egyptian birth sign pendants.
